Active Membership
Active membership shall be open to any person of Irish lineage who is currently employed as a correction officer by the Department of Correction of the County of Westchester. (Note: for the purposes of this Constitution, a correction officer is defined to be a member of the Correction Officers' and/or Superior Officers' bargaining units.) An active member in good standing is entitled to all voting privileges of the Society and may be elected to the Executive Board or the Board of Trustees.
Retired Membership
Retired membership shall be open to any person of Irish lineage who has retired from the Department of Correction of the County of Westchester. A retired member in good standing shall retain all voting privileges and may be elected to the Board of Trustees, but shall not be entitled to be elected to the Executive Board.
Associated Membership
Associate membership shall be open to any active or retired member of law enforcement agency who exhibits an interest in the objectives and goals of the Westchester County Correction Officers' Emerald Society. (Irish lineage is not a prerequisite for associative membership.) An associate member in good standing may attend and speak at meetings of the Society but may not hold or run for elective office nor be able to vote in elections or on motions.
Honorary Membership
Honorary membership may be conferred upon any person by a majority vote of the active and retired members present at a general membership meeting after recommendation by the Executive Board. Honorary members may not hold or run for elective office nor be able to vote in elections or on motions, but may attend and speak at meetings of the Society.
